If this is the first movie you ever tried to encode.. why do you blame
it? Most likely there is nothing special about it. We can help you with
that dvd and future ones, just post exact mencoder command line you
used, target video bitrate and describe this "disgraceful" more
exactly - like, a lot of blocking artefacts, or was it something else,
because you may have forgot to ivtc it or something.
