[MPlayer-users] Interlaced playback now working...

I now (finally) have interlaced output working quite well with mplayer.
I know well that tfields isn't supposed to work with mplayer (it even
says so in the man page) and I've seen for myself what a terrible job it
does with -vo xv. That said, tfields does seem to be working perfectly
with -vo gl...
I just happened to try it out with:
mplayer -dr -vo gl -vf tfields=4,scale,format=bgr16 -noframedrop
and was quite surprised when it worked.
I've gone through and tested it with interlaced, progressive, and hard
telecined videos to make sure I wasn't imagining things, and it handles
them all just about perfectly on my TV-out. I even added -fps
60000/100 and it played back fine, and at normal-speed for some reason
(perhaps swapinterval=1 is strictly limiting the framerate?).
The only downside is that adding tfields takes mplayer from about 0-2%
CPU usage up to 24-30% CPU usage. Still, I'm quite happy it works, and
I'd really like to hear from someone WHY it works with gl, and perhaps
why xv can't be made to work this way...
