once upon a time I wrote in the man page that the default format was 
mpeg2 but due to a bug
it was really mpeg1. Now I fixed this bug, so the default is really 
mpeg2 (because mpeg1 can't
contain mpeg4video and ac3).
-of mpeg -mpegopts format=mpeg1 will do what you want.
