[MPlayer-users] SDL configuration problem

I'm trying to use SDL video option with MPlayer1.0rc1.
I downloaded and compiled the source file from Mplayer website.
The ./configure script returns :
    ...
    Checking for SDL ... yes (using sdl-config)
    ...
but when running mplayer -vo help I don't get sdl as an allowed output
device
moreover ldd mplayer returns that mplayer require
/usr/lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0 so it seems correctly linked.
Any suggestion?
