[MPlayer-users] real audio to wav or mp3

Hi all

I have some real audio files (.rmj) that I want to convert to wav, mp3 
or other more portable formats.

I can get them converted by using -audiofile with mencoder to covert 
them along with a video of sufficient length, and then strip out the 
converted audio with a mplayer -dumpaudio.

Is there a more direct method? It probably does not entail using 
mplayer/mencoder, but I thought the folks in this list may have some ideas.
