But you can select your preferred font with -font option and size with 
-subfont-text-scale option. 

1) Assume someone doesn't want to use Italic bold and someone prefers 
lucida medium one. If your request will be implemented, people have no 
other choise. Moreover, it is possible that requested by .srt font is 
not installed on the user's system.

2) I think that scaled font is more reliable than fixed font size: 
different people use different monitors.

Thus, if you request will be implemented, it must be _optional_ and NOT 
enabled by default.
