Interesting. What kind of a programming contest?

For best interoperability, be sure to know about the -ffourcc option. 
Many players/decoders don't recognize libavcodec's FMP4 fourcc, so using 
'-ffourcc XVID' or '-ffourcc DIVX' might be necessary.
