[MPlayer-users] LCD vs. CRT

I built mplayer from source under the stable Debian Linux distribution
(Sarge) on my Dell Inspiron 8500 laptop. Using my laptop's LCD display, it
works. But if I put my laptop in its docking station and use a CRT monitor,
I get audio only -- the video display is black. I've tried this with both
mpeg and quicktime. My video card is ATI Radeon 9000. The output from
mplayer (reproduced below) is identical line for line with either display,
and doesn't seem to show any errors or problems that would cause the black
screen effect. I've Googled and studied the documentation, but so far no
clue how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
