Yes, but how do you know the new card won't be broken too? IMO this is
not a good solution..

False, 352x480 is one of the standard DVD resolutions and required by
the spec for a DVD player to be compliant and carry the DVD logo. In
fact many DVDs that have crap-quality TV trailers and other similar
extras use 352x480 or 352x240 video.
