Neil, thanks for bringing this one up. Yes, I've been using just what mplayer
suggests. I'll try -vc null only when I get home.

Reimar: If -vc null only works, is there any point to build CVS version to try
"-vc dummy -vo null"? What is preferred syntax to dump PCM audio as fast as
possible?
