[MPlayer-users] how to play a specific time interval of a video file

i want to use player to make animated gifs.
for that a i can use -vo jpeg but i can't figure out how o specify the time
interval it should convert to jpegs. other it creates 20000 jpegs when i
only need 30. how can i specify time interval.
please help.
