Assuming that pixels are square will make aspect ration correct for you
even without setting display size. Since 1280:1024 is 5:4 ratio, and
your monitor has 5:4 ratio, pixels are square on your screen. Non-square
pixels are highly unlikely, also icons, fonts, pictures etc. will have
incorrect aspect ratio anyway. I think it would be fair enough if
mplayer will use incorrect aspect ratio in that case too (by default).
