Why do you think people don't know what they are doing?

Today most people with non-4:3 resolution probably have a monitor with 
non-4:3 dimension, too.

Only because MPlayer is not able to ask the X-Server about the actual 
monitor dimension, it does not mean that all people with 16:9, 15:9 or 
5:4 displays are stupid.
