[MPlayer-users] Buffering Time of mplayer

Hi all,
 I am trying to configure a setup where mplayer takes data from
Network and also trying to recover the lost data by selective
retrasmission. So i need some basic knowledge abt mplayer such as

  1.what is the buffering interval between getting the data and
playing the movie?
  2.How does mplayer do buffering? i want to know buffering mechanism
of mplayer.
can any one pls help me out?
