[MPlayer-users] Buffering of mplayer

Hi all,
      I am studying how MPlayer takes data from Live RTP stack and
shows video and I have the followings basic questions.

1. How does mplayer do buffering(i want to know basic buffering
mechanism in mplayer) ?

2. Is there any time gap between the reading of data from Live by
MPlayer and its actual rendering? I mean to ask that whether a time
gap or buffer is intentionally used in MPlayer before rendering of the
media.

Pls help me out.
