No, force=2 gives MUCH WORSE quality still. The default is indeed
force=0, which is stupid. It was supposed to mean "automatic" but what
it really means now is "medium quality, same speed as slowest" which
is entirely useless. I vote to change the default to 1, especially for
mencoder.
