[MPlayer-users] Horizontal Tearing with Core Video

This is probably more of a Mac-centric thread, but it still involves
MPlayer.

Since the Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), Apple has introduced what they call
Core Video into the operating system. MPlayer seems to utilize it,
but with questionable quality. In scenes or shots with a high amount
of motion, moving horizontally, I notice a lot of frame tearing. It's
not specific to one video, but a variety of videos.

This problem does not seem to happen in QuickTime 7 (which I would
assume uses Core Video), nor does it occur when I use another form of
video output, such as Quartz. This is not a problem of "this computer
is not fast enough," since that error doesn't come up, and in
addition, I've played some of these same videos on machines far older
than this one without any glitches or problems.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is this exclusive to MPlayer? Is
there something that cane be done about this? Anything else I should
know?

Sorry to be pushy. Thank you.
