[MPlayer-users] Packed bitstream

Hi all,

I am in the process of building my own Home Media Centre,
probably based on mplayer, and I have a doubt:
does mplayer handle MPEG4 packed bitstreams correctly?

And given any AVI file, is there any way of knowing
whether its bitstream is packed or not?  I have looked
at mplayer's output with the very verbose option, plus
the stats output with "-lavdopts vstats", but I could
not find this information...
