Fedora Core 3
AMD Duron 750
ATI Radeon 9000
RAM 580,788k
APPS: xawtv, jtvd, xtvd, Gv4l and any other possible capture/recording
app that requires Mplayer.

I used ./configure --diable-runtime-cpudetection

What I saw as errors were not true errors I presume. I just questioned
why some drivers were disabled when in fact they are loaded at the
kernel level.

I finally got the build to work and it installed - finally!

Still no play or view from the Capture Card. Playback fails on every
file format from .asf, .avi to mpeg and .wmv. Noatun, Kaboodle, Videolan
Client, Totem can all play the same file except Mplayer which errors
with a pop-up;

Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.

Yes I'm using mplayer from the gui. After attempting from the command
line, I'm lost at the myriad of options and arguments. I quit after
several hours,2 lines of options and no luck.

I use XAWTV and JTVD trying to record or capture video from my Hauppauge
(BT848) card. Replies from developers of all respective apps (and more)
returned comments that Mplayer changed the command options and
arguments which is why the apps are failing. Is this true?

JTV error:
