[MPlayer-users] Have anyone made MPSSA to work?

Hello,

I am trying to make mpssa subtitle rederer working, its source is at 
http://rut.org/mpssa/
README says it will work, just do as written. But I am trying to do it 
right as mentioned
there, and nothing goes out. The patch for mplayer that adds -vf overlay 
filter seems to
be outdated, but however, it should work! Have anyone experience with 
this working or
failing? And, please tell me, how to make it right if you have succeeded 
with it somehow
