Always *g*. Though the problem in your case is what we consider a bug:
that /usr/X11R6/lib dir contains the 32 bit libs instead of the 64 bit
ones (those are in /usr/X11R6/lib64).
CVS configure has been fixed to find the ones it can link against.
pre7 will probably work too if you specify
--with-x11libdir=/usr/X11R6/lib64 to configure.
