[MPlayer-users] problems compiling MPlayer-1.0pre7 on Solaris 9 with gcc 3.4.2

Hi everyone,

I've configured the MPlayer-1.0pre7 source (Sun Ultra 60, Solaris 9, gcc
compiler) using this set of options to the configure script:

sh ./configure --with-install=/usr/ucb/install --enable-menu --enable-gui \
	--with-xanimlibdir=/usr/local/xanim --cc=gcc --host-cc=gcc \
	--enable-runtime-cpudetection --enable-shared-pp

I also recently upgraded my gcc installation to version 3.4.2 from
SunFreeware.com so it's up to date.

The compile reached this point and failed:

gcc -c -I../libvo -I../../libvo -O4 -mcpu=v9 -pipe -ffast-math
-fomit-frame-pointer -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64
-I/usr/local/include/gtk-1.2 -I/usr/local/include/glib-1.2
-I/usr/local/lib/glib/include -I/usr/openwin/include
-I/opt/SUNWmlib/include -I. -I.. -I/usr/local/include/gtk-1.2
-I/usr/local/include/glib-1.2 -I/usr/local/lib/glib/include
-I/usr/openwin/include -fomit-frame-pointer -fPIC -DPIC -I.. -I../.. -o
postprocess_pic.o postprocess.c
gcc -shared -Wl,-soname,libpostproc.so.0 \
-o libpostproc.so postprocess_pic.o
ld: warning: option -o appears more than once, first setting taken
ld: fatal: file libpostproc.so.0: open failed: No such file or directory
ld: fatal: File processing errors. No output written to libpostproc.so
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
gmake[1]: *** [libpostproc.so] Error 1
gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/home/azwan/MPlayer-1.0pre7/libavcodec/libpostproc'
gmake: *** [libavcodec/libpostproc/libpostproc.so] Error 2

I made sure that I'd done a 'gmake distclean' to ensure the source tree
wasn't polluted by previous attempts at compiling.

I'm wondering if the --enable-runtime-cpudetection switch is what's
triggered the problem? I'll try re-running the compile process again and
see what happens.

In the meantime, has anyone come across a similar problem trying to
compile MPlayer under Solaris 9 on a Sparc machine using a recent release
of gcc?
