[MPlayer-users] Is more than 3 pass really beneficial or am I just paranoid about quality?

The PSNR may be higher, but that doesn't mean it will look good.  With a
single-pass, you're very likely to see most complex/high-motion
scenes looking horrible.

That's at medium/low bitrates, BTW.  At high bitrates, there's so
many bits to go around, the extra pass doesn't make much difference.
