looks like the - got stuck in the middle of -lavcopts during line
wrapping. it's not supposed to be there, obviously.

nope, this is definitely wrong. it only happens to work because:
1) your filename and all other options appear before the bogus
filename "vcodec=mpeg4"
2) mpeg4 is the default video codec.
