Hmm, you didn't post the full mplayer output, so I don't even know
what version you are using.  From the timing, it sounds suspiciously
like your problem could be directly related to the new mpeg seeking
patch that was comitted to CVS a short while ago (23 Oct).

If you are using CVS, try reversing that patch, and see if it solves the
problem.  If you aren't using CVS, you should try a snapshot...
