[MPlayer-users] mplayer wont play .wmv files

I installed mplayer, and the mplayer mozilla plugin, and neither will play wmv files. i'm using fedora core 2.

i also downloaded the list of essential codecs (including the wmv codec) but it still wont play. but i wasnt sure what folder to put them in, because in /usr/share/mplayer, the only folders were two fonts folders and one skins folder, in /usr/lib/mplayer theres only a folder for vidix, and when i tried to install mplayer-codec-essential or mplayer-codecs-win32 it told me there were no packages found by those names.

i am very confused as to why this is happening. please help.
