[MPlayer-users] DVD movie reading - wrong scaling

Hi,

I have a DVD movie (l'ete meurtrier).

I can read on it:
image format: 16/9 compatible 4/3
Original format respected: 1.66 (widescreen european thus)

If I type: mplayer dvd://2 -vf cropdetect I have the following cropping
values: 656:560:6:6 and on the image I see on my screen, the skulls are
definitely dolichocephalic (656/560 is not equal to 1.66 I think. I should have
something like 704:432:*.*).

Is this a problem of MPlayer or with the DVD format? How to solve that because
cropdetect is so convenient.

Of course if I add -aspect 16:9, the problem is solved but I need to encode
with MEncoder to be able to see the movie on a standalone reader. If I type
mencoder dvd://1 ... -aspect 16:9 -vf crop=656:560:32:8,scale=576:352 ... I
have a nice image while reading with MPlayer but not with the standalone
reader.

CVS 20040910 (old I know but no other problem though).
