[MPlayer-users] Mplayer doesn't want to play .avi

When I play an .avi-file (mpg seems to be ok), Mplayer does the following:

Then, as you see, the counters just freeze immediately and the 
Mplayer-screen remains black. Can anybody help me with this? Thanks.
