if the image is broken you can use -vd ffmpeg12 (which is generally is
more resistant to errors).
Try also to play with -lavdopts.
If instead you are experiencing sudden image freezes and cache fill rate
to 0% then there's no solution
that I know of yet (I'm still experimenting)
