In the second set of pictures, if I do "xgamma -g 3.0", I can see some 
blockiness in the lavc version on the "cylinder" type object to the 
right of Yoda. Using my normal setting of xgamma -g 1.22, i can't see 
any artifacts in either picture sets.. :-/
