It does not.

It works in Win32 mplayer commandline. But not in Win32 mplayer GUI.

I even tried copying the input.conf file from the commandline Win32
mplayer to the GUI one. Didn't help. Apparently keyboard input is broken
in Win32 GUI mplayer.

But in general, complicated management with the keyboard *is* too
complicated for some Windows users. Hey, not me, but someone has to
watch what I encode! 

I could give them Windows commandline mplayer, with the launcher that
allows them to select a file (it's a "third party" build witn an
installer, but seems to work ok). And then train them in keyboard lore
for seek backward-forward, and to tune the audio volume?
