I don't need any windows *.exe.

They used the version most of their (Windows-) readers would probably use.
If they had done the review now, maybe they would have found 
http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net/ffmpeg-doc.html#SEC24 and compiled a own 
binary.

(I'm still looking for a better comparison than doom9's)
