True, but I wondered if maybe his mpeg source wasn't interlaced, and the
question was more of a Do What I Mean rather than Do What I Say. :)

I think given an interlaced signal like NTSC it's not stupid to store it
as 30fps interlaced.  Why do you say it's stupid?
