[MPlayer-users] Sound for mpeg1 playback distorted

Hello all,

For some odd reason, both my pre4 and pre5 compiled versions of mplayer play 
back mpeg1 files with the sound distorted (avi files are fine). There's a 
high pitch distortion being added somehow. When using the pre4 compiled 
version from Packman things are working fine though, so I kinda ruled out a 
problem with the codecs. Any idea what might be causing this?
