i have an avi on a broken cd and am desperately trying to halfways
recover it using framecopy - without any success. mencoder simply aborts
on the first broken frame; it does not seem to even try to find the next
valid one. could this be fixed, please?

fwiw, transcode sucks in another way: it recovers, but is utterly bad at
keeping a/v sync with vbr streams (even if the input is ok), so that's
no option either.
