[MPlayer-users] Jumpy dvd playback with alsa9

It has happened some times after a few minutes of playback, with an
output line like this

alsa-play: xrun of at least 24.417 msecs. resetting stream  7%  2.2% 26
0 0%

I am running it with this line
 mplayer -ao alsa9 -channels 6 -sid 0 -aid 128 -v -double
-stop_xscreensaver  -vf pp=lb dvd://1

the processor never seems to be heavily loaded, except a small peak when
that message is printed, and Im running on a P4 at 2.5 Ghz with 512 Mb
of ram and an MX440 nvidia AGP4x with  64 Mb with the nvidia drivers on
a 2.6 kernel, running gnome2 and alsa-lib 0.9.7-1 (fedora core 1).

Any idea or suggestion of why that happens?
