Possible. This problem is particularly nasty since it
looks reporoducible. However, two weeks from now, after
the next prelink, you will probably have a completely 
different set of symptoms. 

My guess is that at the moment you have some gnome library
loaded near 0x400000, whuch is where mplayer wants its
windows dll.

Yes, but disabling exec-shield does not work immediately
since you must wait two weeks until the libraries get prelinked
again.

The recipe I gave (which came from codeweavers.com)
   a) edit /etc/syconfig/prelink and change PRELINK_OPTS=-mR
         to PRELINK_OPTS="-mR --no-exec-shield"

   b) touch /var/lib/misc/prelink.force
   c) /etc/cron.daily/prelink 

does work (and allows you to keep most of the benefits of prelink and
exec-shield). 

I think Codeweavers is working on a better solution. They sort of have
to, since their products are currently useless on Fedora.
