In this case there is also the point that qtsvq3 is a proprietary,
binary codec (thus also available only for some architectures).
Of course it is also slow and also buggy, as anything that has to do
with Quicktime (at least for x86 that's true - maybe they produced
something actually usable on MacOS X ;-) ).
If you want to have it used by default you can e.g. modify codecs.conf
or add vc=qtsvq3, to your config file (that comma is important,
otherwise you will only be able to play svq3 files).
