Yes, you are right, I'm using arts (version 1.2.3, shipped with kde
3.2.3). After switching to alsa audio output bug disappeared. But, new
one appeared. After playing started a lot of message like:

alsa-control: mixer attach /dev/mixer error: No such file or director
ALSA lib control.c:654:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL /dev/mixer 6%

But, I have got /dev/mixer, it's valid symlink on /dev/sound/mixer.

What version of arts you are use?
