Merci Dominique,
I apt-installed alsaplayer, alsaplayer-esd, and the appropriate
alsa-modules package,
but now it seems that ALSA is not recognising my Creative Soundblaster
card when
trying to play REAL audio streams.
Example of readout below - I'd like to get Mplayer working properly
before the Olympics !
