Put this line into your /etc/modules.conf
alias fbdev matroxfb_base

Then do:
$ depmod -a; modprobe fbdev

It either reports an error, or is silent. If it is silent, you'll see the
fbdev modules with:
$ lsmod

If you get the Xv-patch working, would be nice to know.
