I don't have a GeForce, but the older TNT2. With GeForce, you probably 
only need to use the proprietary driver if you want OpenGL acceleration. 
XFree's "nv" driver does hardware accelerated 2D and XVideo. I'd 
certainly avoid the proprietary ones if I could.
