I am trying to use mplayer on Linux (MPlayer 0.91-RPM-3.1) to view a
DVD's VOBs on a Windows box via a SAMBA mount. using:

mplayer /mnt/cf/VIDEO_TS/VTS_02_1.VOB -cache 8192 -quiet -framedrop

things start off fine but then the audio starts to garble and then the
video freezes....

after a while, the audio stops, and I get:

Too many video packets in the buffer: (4096 in 8275888 bytes).
Maybe you are playing a non-interleaved stream/file or the codec failed?
For AVI files, try to force non-interleaved mode with the -ni option.

Finally the status line just spins, till its "finished"
A: 24.5 V: 64.7 A-V:-40.178 ct: -2.778 1935/1935 24% 4% 40.7% 83 0
0%

The DVD plays fine when its directly mounted on Linux RH 7.3

Can anyone out there offer some help??
