Hello all,
I am unable to get my pinnacle PCTV pro tvcard working with mplayer.
I feel like I tried everything. Under xawtv, I have no problems, so I feel
like there should be a simple solution. The information from lspci -v about
the card is
00:0b.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture
(rev 11)
Subsystem: Pinnacle Systems Inc. PCTV pro (TV + FM stereo receiver)
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 17
Memory at e2021000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=4K]
Capabilities: [44] Vital Product Data
Capabilities: [4c] Power Management version 2
00:0b.1 Multimedia controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Audio Capture (rev
11)
Subsystem: Pinnacle Systems Inc. PCTV pro (TV + FM stereo receiver,
audio section)
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 17
Memory at e2022000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=4K]
Capabilities: [44] Vital Product Data

I tried a lot of different command lines:
mplayer tv://E8 -tv driver=v4l:norm=pal:width=640:height=480:outfmt=yv12 -vo
xv
It starts up OK, gives audio (I can even change channels with different values
behind tv:// for instance tv://E6). A window opens, but no video. The
contents of the window is a copy of my desktop somewhere below the window.
On the console it gives me the following output
MPlayer 1.0pre2-3.3.2 (C) 2000-2003 MPlayer Team

I have tried many different options for the comandline. Different values for
outfmt, width, height, driver and -xv. I'm lost and would apreciate some
help. Maybe this is also important. I am using the nvidia drivers for
Xwindows on a debian system.
