[MPlayer-users] mencoder performance

Hi all,

I'm a recent user of mencoder.

I'm currently trying to test the performance of mencoder.
I've an  Athlon xp 1800 on A7N8X rev2 mobo, and 512 of certified DDR 2700.
A friend of mine running on exactly the same configuration.

We're running mencoder under gentoo.
Our test is to encode a vob in Xvid, with resizing (scale...), at 1500 kb/s.
I get 15 fps
He gets 28 fps on the same test...

Our gentoo's are not so different, so I don't understand....
Has someone has an idea to find the trick ?

I'm getting crazy.
