[MPlayer-users] vop scaling width

hidy ho.

Am I right in wanting presume that a simple command like:

mplayer -dvd 1 -vop scale=270:-2

should at least make sure the output width is indeed 270 pixels. however 
on play it politely says:

VO: [xv] 270x152 => 384x152 Planar YV12 

It obviosuly is rescaling to aspect ratio, however surely it should resize 
based on the width, as that's what i demanded! This isn't technically 
correct is it?

this doesn't happen with mencoder, only mplayer.
