That's not entirely true.  See cmatrix source for details, but it uses aalib under ncurses (this is all IIRC of course) so it *is* possible to do.  Maybe IF I get a little time I will look into exactly *how* to do it.  So to 'enable' it in the future, I would say it would only work if aadriver == (n)curses.
