[MPlayer-users] -vo help doesn't show xv

>From ./configure xv is shown to be there.  After installing however
mplayer doesn't use it.  mplayer -vo help doesn't show it as available
and by default it attempts to use fbdev /dev/fb0 to which it says no
device exists.  It plays the mpeg file's sound but no video anywhere.

I'm a complete newbie to mplayer and 'Linux on the Desktop' (although
I've admin'd UNIX boxes for a while now) so go easy on me.
