this is the problem, the fixed address memory allocation (w/mmap) fails:

#define ENOMEM          12      /* Out of memory */

did you try it as root? maybe you just don't have write access to /dev/zero

maybe it have some security patches applied, they are known to break hacks
like win32 DLL loading
