I'm using CVS from a few days ago, and I've seen this message too. I was
planning to ask on this list what it means, but wanted to learn a bit on
my own first. I haven't been able to find anything useful yet, though.
Mplayer says:
Building audio filter chain for 48000Hz/2ch/16bit -> 48000Hz/2ch/8bit...

Should it be doing that for AC3 passthrough? Is that why the format
filter is trying to do something?
